| "What
manner of love is this?"; was the remaining "wonderment" as the
sanctuary slowly emptied. Small groups remained gathering their
belongings, chatting, laughing, hugging... clearly related, and
clearly elated. They were children of God, brothers and sisters in
Christ; comfortable with who they are, with each other, and still
rejoicing in the moment.
The
moment was November 11, 2005. It was an evening set aside to honor
their Pastor. Showing respect, love and thanks toward Rev. Berta
L. Newsome for her 10 years of endless commitment in service to
United Faith Fellowship Church of God. It was their heart to to
express their appreciation to her for leading and exhorting them
to heightened understanding of God's word and heart. To thank her
for being a living example of the Word that she has so faithfully
preached.
Giving the glory to God, (as they
have been taught), various ministries from within the church
represented the congregation in song, praise dance and
presentations. It was an evening of excellence focused on
thanksgiving and praise to God for establishing and growing such a
wonderful and truly effective fellowship in Meadville.
What manner of love? It was a night
out with God. It was a family gathering, loving and praising Him
and being deeply loved by Him in return.
